Rob Maddrey to join Dix Park Conservancy as VP of Development

The Dix Park Conservancy is pleased to announce Rob Maddrey will join the organization next month as their Vice President of Development.

Rob brings more than 30 years of experience in nonprofit leadership and fundraising. He comes to the Conservancy from the North Carolina Center for Nonprofits where he has been the Chief Sustainability Officer since 2015, leading its fundraising and membership programs.

Previously he worked with the North Carolina Symphony, Preservation North Carolina and ARTS North Carolina, where he honed his skills in community outreach and fundraising.

In his work with the Dix Park Conservancy, Rob will oversee the comprehensive campaign for philanthropy including community giving, grant writing and stewardship. He will also collaborate with CEO Janet Cowell and the Board on all development activities to facilitate and strengthen the organization’s fundraising efforts.

“What an incredibly inspiring time to join the Dix Park Conservancy! I’m excited to be a part of creating America’s next great park in Raleigh. This is a transformational project for the whole community,” Rob says.

Orage Quarles, Dix Park Conservancy Chairman, and his fellow board members eagerly look forward to Rob’s contributions to the organization. Orage says, “Rob’s strategic intellect, rootedness in the local community, and relationship building skills are extremely valuable in a public-private project as complex and multifaceted as Dix Park. He fully embraces the vision we have for creating a world class park, and we’re delighted to have him join the team.”

“Dix Park Conservancy is grateful for the generosity of our donors who contributed over $25 million dollars in the last nine months,” says Janet Cowell, Dix Park Conservancy CEO. “Rob will utilize his ample talent and network to help us build upon this success — diversifying and expanding our community and corporate support.”

In addition to his professional activities, Rob is a board member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals Triangle Chapter and a lifelong choral musician. He currently sings tenor with the choir of the Church of the Good Shepherd, the Oakwood Waits, and the North Carolina Master Chorale. Rob was raised in Winston-Salem and earned his BA in Economics from UNC-Chapel Hill.

He will begin his work with the Dix Park Conservancy on May 23.
